Project Manager (all genders)-Politics of DDR and Political Transformation Project

Working closely with the Project Lead (Senior Advisor), you will support the implementation of an international project commissioned by the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), building on several years of collaboration between the UN and the Berghof Foundation.
The project aims to strengthen international policy and practice on the political transformation of non-state armed groups and to further operationalise the UN Integrated DDR Standards (IDDRS) on the Politics of DDR. Through field support, international peer learning and the development of practitioner guidance, the project contributes to more effective peace processes, DDR programming and political transitions in conflict-affected contexts.

Your main tasks

• Support the overall coordination and implementation of the project in close collaboration with the Project Lead and UN counterparts.
• Support the design, organisation and documentation of on-the-ground advisory activities in conflict-affected contexts, international workshops and policy dialogues.
• Coordinate logistics for international travels, workshops and field missions.
• Co-lead the preparation, review and editing of practitioner primers and guidance notes.
• Prepare meeting minutes, background papers, presentations and briefing materials.
• Liaise regularly with the UN Peacebuilding Support Office, project consultants and external partners.
• Support reporting, work planning and financial monitoring in coordination with Berghof's finance and administration teams.
• Collaborate with Berghof communications colleagues on project visibility and dissemination.
• Contribute to identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships, outreach and knowledge exchange.
• Regular international travel.

You have:

• A Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, Security Studies or a related discipline.
• Several years of professional experience in managing complex international projects.
• Excellent organisational and coordination skills with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated experience organising international workshops, conferences or policy dialogues.
• Experience working with international organisations, government institutions and international NGOs.
• Knowledge of DDR, mediation, peace processes, political transitions or peacebuilding.
• Experience working with/in conflict-affected countries.
• Familiarity with publication and editing processes.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills and experience with collaborative project management tools.
