Your mission

We are looking for a Project Manager in the framework of our lead of the consortium project: Community Safety Partnerships: infrastructures for peace for contact zones, including frontline areas.
 
Overview of the position:
Hours: Full time, 100%, 39 hours
Starting date: As soon as possible
Salary: According to TVöD Bund, pay grade E13
Location: Berlin, Germany
Department & reporting line: Head of Unit Yemen

Your main tasks:
  • You ensure successful implementation of the project, both substantive and financial, through effective planning, activity design, forecasting, and monitoring.
  • You co-design and backstop activities implemented by partners and lead on the design of activities directly implemented by the Berghof Foundation by developing concept notes, coordinating processes in the team for ensuring criteria-based selection of local initiatives and supporting the selection of trainers and the development of training curricula, etc.
  • You are responsible for managing the overall consortium, ensuring that implementation and delivery of outcomes is on-track, building on potential synergies between partner workstreams within the consortium, and leading joint planning and cooperation.
  • You organize joint planning processes, regular exchanges and effective and professional communication with partners, consortium members, participants and donors and ensure outreach to wider stakeholder groups.
  • You coordinate reporting requirements within the consortium and take overall responsibility for reporting to the donor
  • You contribute expertise on mediation support, peacebuilding, and community safety to support local mediation approaches and initiatives
  • Within the project context, you monitor and analyse the conflict dynamics in the areas of implementation and work with partners to ensure effective adaptation and conflict sensitivity
  • You coordinate and cooperate with inhouse-crosscutting roles, like MEL, finance, and regional and thematic advisors                 
  • You mentor and advise junior roles within your project scope
  • Frequent travel (also to high-risk areas)

Your knowledge, experience & skills

  • A Master’s degree within a relevant field such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations or similar
  • Excellent oral and written language skills in English and Arabic 
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in project management and work on or in Yemen (preferred) and/or the wider region.
  • thematic knowledge on mediation support, peacebuilding, and/or community safety and contextual expertise on Yemen (preferred) and/or the wider region.
  • Strong organisational skills and intercultural and interpersonal communication skills, including experience in remote communication & cooperation
  • Willingness to travel to Yemen and the wider region
  • Professional skills in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Teams) 
  • Curiosity and strong empathetic/intercultural skills.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and to make decisions under pressure and in complex situations.
  • Willingness to undertake all aspects of project management and implementation.
