Your mission
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant supports the efficient operation of the accounting function by ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely financial reporting, compliance with relevant regulations (including tax and non-profit requirements), and the overall integrity of financial data. In doing so, they contribute to the financial transparency and stability needed to support the organization’s mission and operations.

Your responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient processing and accurate accounting treatment of transactions, maintaining clear and effective internal communication at all times.
  • Oversee compliance with tax obligations, including VAT, corporate tax, and other relevant filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to support consistent and efficient financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and implement best practices in accounting operations and systems.
  • Define and monitor performance indicators for the accuracy and timeliness of accounting processes (e.g., bookkeeping, approvals, payments), statutory reporting, and tax filings.
  • Stay informed on developments in legal, accounting, and tax regulations, as well as relevant industry trends.
Your knowledge, experience & skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g. Bilanzbuchhalter or similar certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance.
  • Understanding of accounting, financial and tax regulations.
  • Experience in financial reporting, tax filing (VAT, reverse charge, etc.)
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., DATEV, MS Dynamics, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills (in both English and German), with the ability to interact with colleagues, senior management, auditors and tax advisors.
  • Strong organizational skills
